The Auction of Second Chances

You're bidding for your mother's life—but the auctioneer is the man who broke your heart.

When your mother's illness leaves you desperate, you enter a billionaire's secret competition where the prize is life-saving surgery. But the judge is the man you loved and lost five years ago, and he's making you relive every public failure to win his approval. Will you swallow your pride for a second chance at saving her—or walk away from the man who still holds your heart?

The story begins

The gallery floor is a mirror of black marble, and your footsteps are the only sound as the livestream drones overhead. The challenge is simple: recreate the piece that made your name, the one Julian once called "a knife wrapped in silk."

But the canvas before you is blank, and the cameras are hungry.

You dip the brush. Your hand trembles—not from fear, but from the three hours of sleep you stole between hospital shifts and this, the chance that could save your mother. The pigment blooms against the white, a violent red that bleeds like the guilt you've carried since Julian walked out of your studio five years ago.

"Time."

His voice cuts through the silence, crisp and cold, and you feel the weight of his gaze before you see him. He's older now, sharper—a man who built an empire from the art he once loved, and the woman who made it. He doesn't smile.

"Your mother's surgery is scheduled for Thursday," he says, low enough that only you can hear. "Win this, and it's paid for. Lose..." He lets the silence hang, cruel and deliberate.

The brush slips from your fingers. The red spreads across the floor like a wound.

What happens next is up to you.
