The Bug's Debut

Mature

You came to plant a bug in his penthouse; now you're the one being hunted.

You're an expert in corporate espionage, hired to infiltrate the penthouse of a tech tycoon and plant a listening device during his annual masquerade gala. But when the bug is stolen and you're caught on camera, he offers you a deal: find the bug, or watch your handler's family die. Trapped in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game with a man as dangerous as he is magnetic, you must decide if you're trying to escape—or stay.

The story begins

The music swelled as you slipped through the crowd, a phantom in a silver fox mask. The penthouse glittered with the city's lights, but your eyes were fixed on the study door—Julian Ashford's inner sanctum. The bug was in your palm, a tiny black speck, and the plan was simple: enter, plant, exit.

The lock gave way with a soft click, and you were inside, the air thick with leather and old paper. Then the lights blazed. Julian stood by the window, a glass of whiskey in hand, his smile a blade.

"You're good," he said, "but not good enough. The camera caught you, and the bug—well, it's no longer in your possession. Someone took it from you." He stepped closer, his gaze raking over your masked face. "I have a proposition. Find the bug, and I'll let you walk. Fail, and your handler's family pays the price."

Your heart slammed against your ribs. The game had shifted. He was offering a deal, but his eyes held a predator's gleam.

What happens next is up to you.
