You've been hired to cook his meals and expose his crimes, but he's convinced you're his mother's ghost.

Undercover as a personal chef to a reclusive billionaire, you're tasked with gathering evidence of his financial crimes. But your cover is cracking: the signature dish you serve is his late mother's recipe, and he's convinced you're her reincarnated spirit. With the real chef missing and your mission compromised, you must navigate his obsession while racing to uncover the truth. Dark romance and suspense collide as you question who's really playing whom.

The story begins

The knife slid through the tomato with a whisper of steel, each slice landing on the board in perfect, blood-red rounds. You'd done this a thousand times—in dingy kitchens, in Michelin-starred temples, in the gray limbo of undercover work. But never with a man watching you like he was watching a ghost.

Julian Cross leaned against the marble island, his tie loosened, a glass of amber scotch catching the low light. He hadn't spoken in three minutes. He'd been doing that all week—watching you plate, watching you taste, watching you breathe.

"The basil," he said, voice low. "You bruise it. Not chop it."

You looked up. His eyes were dark, unblinking, and something in them flickered—not recognition, but something older. Something hungry.

"My mother did that," he said. "Exactly that. The way you hold the knife, the way you tilt your head when you taste." A pause, weighted. "She died fourteen years ago, Yara. And yet here you are."

The name hit you like a slap. Yara—the chef you'd replaced. The one who'd vanished.

Your hand hovered over the cutting board.

What happens next is up to you.
