The Ruined Vintner's Return

His takeover destroyed your family's vineyard, but now you're the only one who can save his prized collection from the flames.

After his ruthless corporate takeover stripped you of your family's vineyard, you thought you'd never see the tycoon again. But a wildfire rages toward his private wine cellar, and he's offering a deal: guide him through the inferno to rescue his irreplaceable vintages, and he'll return your legacy. As embers fall and heat rises, you must decide if you'll save the man who ruined you—or let his precious collection burn. This is a story of enemies-to-lovers tension, forced proximity, and the intoxicating heat of revenge and desire.

The story begins

The dawn was a wound in the sky—a bruised, orange gash bleeding up from the ridgeline where the fire had crested overnight. You stood on the porch of the Moretti homestead, a place that had been a ruin long before the flames arrived. The air tasted of ash and something sharper, like scorched copper. Your hands were black with soot from the trench you'd been digging since midnight, and your lungs burned with every breath of the smoke-thick morning.

Headlights cut through the haze, a black Range Rover crawling up the switchback road. It stopped twenty feet from the porch, and Julian Ashford stepped out. He was immaculate in a charcoal suit, as if he'd dressed for a board meeting rather than an apocalypse. He surveyed your land with that familiar, proprietary gaze—the same look he'd worn when he'd signed the papers that took it from your family fifteen years ago.

"Moretti," he said, his voice carrying over the crackle of distant flames. "I need you."

You spat dust onto the ground. "You need a lot of things, Ashford. A conscience, for one."

His jaw tightened. "The fire's moving faster than the models predicted. It'll hit the valley by noon. My cellars hold vintages worth more than this entire county—and the salvage crew doesn't know the old routes through the hills. You do."

He reached into his jacket and pulled out a folded document. "The deed to this land. Your grandmother's name on it, like it should have been all along. You lead me through the fire, you get this back."

The paper hung in the smoky air between you, and somewhere beyond the ridge, a pine tree exploded with a sound like a gunshot.

What happens next is up to you.
