The Codex's Keeper

You're the last person who can read the ancient Codex—and the billionaire who stole it is the only one who can save you.

As the last living oracle, you can decipher the sentient Codex of the Old Gods, a power the world's most powerful billionaire has just seized. He needs you to unlock its prophecy before his rivals do, but the Codex whispers secrets that could shatter his empire—and uncover the truth about your own forgotten past. With enemies closing in and the Codex's magic growing more dangerous, you must choose: trust the man who holds you captive, or risk everything to escape. A tale of ancient prophecy, modern greed, and a love that could rewrite destiny.

The story begins

The cold glass of the penthouse window pressed against your cheek, the city a glittering smear of light far below. You’d been here for three days, three days of Julian Cross watching you with those calculating, silver-grey eyes, waiting. The Codex lay on a marble table behind you, its leather cover pulsing with a faint, sickly warmth you could feel from across the room.

“I can feel it, you know,” Julian’s voice came from the doorway, low and smooth. He didn’t enter—he stood like a predator assessing prey. “Your resistance. It’s not fear. It’s memory.”

You turned. His frame was immaculate in a charcoal suit, but there was a hunger in his posture, a man unused to being denied.

“You think I remember something that could help you?” you asked, keeping your voice flat.

He smiled, and it didn’t reach his eyes. “I think you remember something that could help us.”

Behind him, the Codex’s pages rustled, though no wind moved.

What happens next is up to you.
