The Last Perfumer

You can recreate the scent that will free his father—but it will cost you the truth you buried.

As the last perfumer with the gift to recreate a scent lost to time, you hold the key to a memory that could exonerate a billionaire's father—or unravel a criminal empire. But the man asking for your help is the one who shattered your heart years ago, and every note you blend brings you closer to a confession that could destroy you both. In a world of luxury and secrets, you must decide: is the truth worth the pain? A second-chance romance with a dark, slow-burn twist.

The story begins

The bell above the atelier door chimed, a sound I hadn’t heard in three years. I didn’t turn from my workbench, my fingers steady as I weighed a gram of ambergris on the brass scale. The air shifted, carrying the ghost of his cologne—sandalwood and something darker, something I’d once known by heart.

“You still use the old brass scale,” Julian said. His voice was the same, low and sure, but it scraped against my spine like a blade.

“It’s accurate,” I replied, setting the amber aside. “And it doesn’t lie.”

I finally turned. He stood in the doorway, his tailored coat damp with night rain, his jaw tighter than I remembered. Guilt had carved new lines around his eyes. Behind him, the street glowed with neon, but he looked like a man standing in a shadow of his own making.

“I need you to recreate a scent,” he said. “My father has forty-eight hours.”

The weight of those words settled into the room, thick as musk. I knew that scent. I’d spent a lifetime trying to forget it.

What happens next is up to you.
