The Falconer's Bargain

You are the last falconer, and the billionaire who mocked your craft now needs your bird to save his daughter.

In a world where technology has made falconry obsolete, you scrape by as the last master of the ancient art. When aviation magnate Adrian Cross, who once called you a relic, discovers that only your trained gyrfalcon can perform the rare ritual to save his dying daughter's heart, he offers you a fortune. But his deal comes with a terrifying price: your freedom. Bound by his contract and trapped in his gilded world, you must navigate a high-stakes game of power and desire, where every choice could cost you everything—including your heart.

The story begins

The falconry mews reeked of leather, feathers, and old straw. Aria’s bells chimed as she shifted on her perch, her golden eyes fixed on the man who had just entered without knocking. Adrian Cross stood in the doorway of your weathered building, his tailored coat spattered with rain, his presence a stark intrusion against the worn wood and rusted hinges.

“You have a nerve,” you said, not turning from the jess you were mending. “Last I heard, you called my craft a relic.”

“I was wrong.” His voice was clipped, polished, but beneath it, a tremor—something raw, almost desperate. “My daughter. Elena. Her heart is failing. They’ve given her months, maybe less.”

You set the jess down slowly. Aria ruffled her feathers, her distrust of the stranger palpable. “And what do I have to do with that?”

Adrian stepped closer, and you caught the faint scent of expensive cologne and hospital antiseptic. “There’s a ritual. An old falconer’s rite—the binding of the Sky’s Breath. It can slow the decay, buy her time.” He pulled a folded document from his coat, its edges crisp. “I’ll pay you a fortune. But the contract binds your services, your bird, and your freedom until the rite is complete.”

The air in the mews grew colder. Aria screamed—a sharp, piercing cry that echoed off the walls.

What happens next is up to you.
