The Poisoned Palette

Mature

You are the chef who must kill with a single dish—but the billionaire you're meant to poison is the only one who knows your real name.

As a celebrated food scientist, you're hired to create one perfect dish for a billionaire's private dinner—but the real order is murder, and the taste testers are the first to fall. When the job goes sideways and you become his captive, you discover your employer is the very man you were sent to kill, and he's been waiting for you to remember who you are. The truth about your past is the only thing that can save you, but telling it means confessing the one secret that could destroy you both.

The story begins

The storm had clawed at the penthouse windows for three hours before Adrian Voss finally spoke. You'd been standing at the kitchen island, hands braced on cold marble, trying to remember how you'd gotten here—a blur of sedatives, a hood, the bite of zip ties that had since been removed. The testers' faces flickered behind your eyes. Their last meals. Your last mistake.

"You made them a bisque," Adrian said, circling you slowly. His voice was low, almost conversational, but his eyes were anything but. "Sea urchin, saffron, a touch of something... unlisted. Three tasters. Three deaths."

You didn't answer. Your throat was raw from screaming.

"I don't want to kill you." He stopped directly behind you, close enough that you felt the warmth of him through your shirt. "I want to know why my wife's ring was in your pocket when you woke up this morning. And I want to know why, when I ran your fingerprints, they came back matching a woman who died seven years ago."

What happens next is up to you.
