The Stage He Set

You pour his coffee, but the entire city is his stage—and you're the leading lady he wrote.

You're a barista in the city you love, but every smile, every spilled drink, every chance encounter has been orchestrated by the reclusive billionaire who owns the block. When you discover the truth behind his meticulous design, he offers you a deal: fall in love with him, or watch your mother's debt destroy her. In a life scripted by a man who buys everything, can you choose your own ending?

The story begins

The espresso machine hissed like an angry cat as you pulled the shot, your knuckles white against the portafilter. Outside, rain lashed the windows of The Copper Kettle, turning the evening rush into a blur of umbrellas and headlights. You hadn't slept well—the dream again, the one with the glass walls and the man watching you from a height that made your stomach drop.

The bell above the door chimed, and he walked in. Not a customer, not a regular. He was the man from the dream, in a charcoal suit that cost more than your rent, his presence swallowing the warm, coffee-scented air. He ordered a black coffee, no room, and paid with a black card that gleamed under the pendant lights.

"Keep the change," he said, his voice low and smooth as aged whiskey. He didn't leave. He stood at the counter, watching you wipe down the steam wand, his gaze a physical weight.

"You're the one who called about the lease," you said, your voice steadier than you felt. "You own this building."

He smiled, a slow, deliberate curve. "I own a lot of things. But I came for the coffee."

What happens next is up to you.
