The Unwanted Key

You inherit a lighthouse, a key, and a secret your father drowned to keep.

A coastal inheritance draws you into a sunken vault's mystery, where every tide brings you closer to the truth about your estranged father and the half-sister who holds the only map. As the key burns in your hand and the sea rises, you must decide who to trust in a hunt that could end in treasure—or in your own watery grave. An atmospheric adventure of family secrets, buried treasure, and the treacherous pull of the deep.

The story begins

The storm had been chewing at the cliffs for two days when you found the door. It wasn't much to look at—salt-rotted oak banded in rusted iron, half-buried where the tide had thrown it against the headland. The lighthouse loomed above, its lantern dark, its bones groaning under the wind's assault. Your oilskin snapped like a flag as you pushed the door open, and the smell of wet stone and old fish rolled out to meet you.

You stepped inside, and the wind slammed the door shut behind you, cutting off the storm's howl so suddenly that your ears rang in the silence. Dust hung in the dim light filtering through cracked windows. A spiral stair climbed into shadow. And at the base of the stair, a fresh set of footprints—booted, broad, still wet—led toward a rusted hatch set into the floor, a ring of cold iron gleaming in the dark.

The hatch was ajar. Below, you heard something that was not the sea: a low, rhythmic scrape. Like a blade being sharpened. Or a stone being dragged across stone.

What happens next is up to you.
