The Lighthouse Bargain

Mature

You've inherited a crumbling lighthouse and a debt you can't escape—unless you marry the one man who thinks you're a fraud.

When a grandfather you never knew leaves you a decrepit lighthouse and a mountain of debt, you discover a condition: to unlock the real fortune, you must marry his business partner's grandson. The grandson is a sharp-tongued billionaire who believes you're a gold-digger, but as you dig into the lighthouse's secrets, you uncover a hidden identity that proves your grandfather's death wasn't an accident—and that everything you thought you knew about your own family is a lie. A billionaire romance with a deadly inheritance, a forced marriage, and a mystery that could cost you everything.

The story begins

The salt wind tore at your coat as you shoved the lighthouse door open, the ancient iron hinges screaming against the storm. Rain lashed your face, cold and sharp as needles, and you blinked against it, taking in the circular room in a single sweep: dust-sheeted furniture, a dead fireplace, and a spiral staircase winding up into darkness.

The lawyer’s letter was still crumpled in your pocket, its words burning: the marriage condition. You’d come to see the wreck of your inheritance for yourself, and now, standing in the damp and the gloom, you felt the weight of it—the debt, the mystery, the old man who’d been your blood but never your family.

A floorboard creaked above you.

You froze, heart hammering, and looked up. A shadow moved in the gallery—someone was up there, and they weren’t expecting you.

“Who’s there?” you called, your voice swallowed by the wind’s howl.

A man’s voice drifted down, dry and sharp as broken glass. “The question is, who the hell are you—and what are you doing in my grandfather’s lighthouse?”

What happens next is up to you.
