Mirror Maze Escape
MatureYou're the test subject in a simulated paradise, and the only way out is to shatter the illusion.
Your perfect suburban life in Arcadia is a lie—a training simulation for a treasure-hunting AI company, and you're the unwitting test subject. When a glitch reveals the outside world, you glimpse the operators controlling your every move from behind the mirrors. Now you must escape the maze they built before they erase your mind and reboot the simulation. A paranoid thriller of identity and survival, where every neighbor could be a remote operator and every mirror a window into your own unraveling.
The story begins
The crack in the bathroom mirror wasn't there when you brushed your teeth this morning. You're certain of it—you'd traced the water spots with your thumb, the same constellation you'd memorized over twenty-two years of mornings. But now a fissure splits the glass from corner to corner, and through it, you glimpse a room that shouldn't exist: sterile white, banks of screens, figures in headsets. One of them turns. Their eyes find you.
"Sweetheart?" June's voice comes from the hallway, but it arrives a half-second late, as if spoken into a well. "You're going to miss the bus."
The dog next door barks. Then barks again. The same pitch, the same rhythm. And again.
You press your palm to the crack, and the glass is cold—not the pleasant cool of porcelain, but a dead, clinical chill that seeps into your bones. The figure in the white room leans closer to their screen. They're watching you. They're smiling.
"Sweetheart?"
You pull your hand back. The crack is gone. The mirror is perfect. The dog has stopped barking.
