The Scripted Shore

You were born in paradise, but every wave hides a lie—and the creator who watches you wants to delete you.

You've lived your whole life on a sun-drenched coast where the tide always turns on cue and the gulls cry in perfect harmony. But when a storm tears a hole in your reality, you glimpse a world beyond the script—a world where your past is a weapon and your every move has been orchestrated by a patron who sees you as a flawed creation. Now you must escape the simulation and outrun the architect who will stop at nothing to erase the one thing they can't script: your will. A gripping tale of survival, identity, and rebellion against the ultimate puppet master.

The story begins

The gull cried out—a sound like tearing silk—and you flinched, salt spray stinging your cheeks. The pier beneath your bare feet was warm from the morning sun, but the air had gone wrong. The sky, that perfect cerulean dome that had arced over your life for as long as memory served, was peeling open along a seam of raw, grey nothing. A ragged wound, spilling a wind that smelled of rust and cold machinery, not brine.

Mara’s hand found your arm. Her grip was too tight. “Don’t look at it,” she breathed, but her eyes were fixed on the tear, wide and terrified. “It’s not real. It can’t be real.”

You could feel it, though—a hum in your teeth, a wrongness that vibrated in your bones. The world behind you, the whitewashed cottages and the impossible green of the hills, felt thin, like painted canvas. The gulls had stopped crying. The waves had stopped moving, frozen mid-curl.

Through the rift, you saw a silhouette. A figure, standing on the other side of the world, looking back at you. It raised a hand, not in greeting, but in summons.

What happens next is up to you.
