The Glass Horizon

Mature

You wake in a perfect town, but the map you find in your own hand says it's all a lie.

You wake in the idyllic town of Meridian Cove, where every comfort feels handcrafted for you. But when you find a door that shouldn't exist, opening onto a dark forest, and a note in your own handwriting warning 'the map is a lie,' your perfect life shatters. The real treasure lies beyond the boundary, but leaving means losing everyone you love—and discovering the truth might be the most dangerous adventure of all. A gripping tale of survival, identity, and impossible choices in a world where nothing is as it seems.

The story begins

The door was wrong.

You'd walked this hallway a thousand times—morning light through the dusty window, the creak of the third floorboard, the faint salt smell of the cove. But this door was new. Heavy oak, black iron hinges, the wood slick with condensation that had no business being here, inside your house, in the dry summer heat.

You touched the handle. Cold. Not the cold of metal left in shade—the cold of deep earth, of roots and rot and something older.

The door swung open on its own.

Beyond it, no hallway. No kitchen. Just forest. Dark trunks pressed close, the canopy so thick the light turned green and sickly. And at your feet, a folded piece of paper, yellowed at the edges.

You knew your own handwriting before you even unfolded it.

the map is a lie.

"Morning!" Elena's voice rang from the kitchen, bright and brittle. "Coffee's ready. You're up early—did you sleep alright?"

She'd see the door. She'd see the forest. And you knew, with a certainty that made your stomach drop, that she would tell you it wasn't there.

What happens next is up to you.
