The Last Tide Caller
Your voice is the only thing standing between a dying convoy and the deep.
You are the final speaker of the ancient tongue that calms the Leviathan of the Rusted Sea. When a dying convoy hires you to guide them to the sunken vaults, you must navigate a world where sound means death and your own voice is failing. As the beasts close in and the convoy's leader questions your worth, you face an impossible choice: trust the one person who wants you dead, or let everyone perish. A gripping survival adventure with a reluctant hero at its core.
The story begins
The convoy master’s voice cracked like a whip across the deck. “Again, old man. Louder.”
You stood at the prow, salt-crusted fingers gripping the rusted rail. The Rusted Sea stretched before you, a seething expanse of oil-slick waves and drifting wreckage. Behind you, the crew held their breath. The Leviathan had taken the Saltwind two days ago—you’d heard it sing before it struck, a low, mournful note that vibrated in your bones.
You opened your mouth. The words came, ancient and guttural, rolling off your tongue like stones. The sea before you rippled, then stilled. A patch of foam flattened into glassy calm.
The Convoy Leader stepped beside you, his boots heavy on the corroded deck. “Good. But it’s getting weaker.” He didn’t look at you—he stared at the horizon, where the vaults’ marker buoy bobbed in the distance. “Another week of this, and you’ll be silent.”
The Navigator—Elara—glanced up from her charts. Her eyes flicked between you and the Leader, something unreadable in their depths. “The stars say the Leviathan nests near the vaults. If we’re lucky, it’ll be sleeping.”
“We’re not lucky,” you rasped, your throat raw.
