The Sculpted Horizon

Mature

You wake in a city you've never questioned, until a stranger whispers that the sky is a canvas and the treasure lies beneath.

In a city of perfect routines, you've lived your whole life without a second thought—until a dying stranger reveals that your world is a stage, the sky a painted illusion, and a legendary treasure lies hidden beneath the cobblestones. As the seams of reality unravel, you must decide: cling to the safety of the only life you know, or carve a path into the wild unknown where truth and treasure await—if they don't destroy you first. A dark survival adventure of hidden worlds and impossible choices.

The story begins

The alley smelled of rain that hadn't fallen in years—a memory of weather the city no longer permitted. You'd taken the shortcut home from the archives, the same route you'd walked for eleven years, when the man collapsed against the brick wall three feet ahead of you.

His coat was wrong. Too heavy, too worn, stitched from fabric you'd never seen in any shop window. Blood soaked through his sleeve in a dark bloom, and when he looked up, his eyes held the flat certainty of someone who'd already died once and was only waiting for the second time.

"You've never seen the moon," he rasped. Not a question.

You crouched. The street behind you was empty—the city's lamplighters had just begun their rounds, and the glow pooled at the alley's mouth like a held breath.

"I've seen the moon," you said. "Everyone has."

He laughed, a wet sound that turned into a cough. His hand found your wrist, grip shockingly strong, and pressed something into your palm—paper, folded into a square small as a matchbox. "That's what they want you to think. The sky is painted. The treasure's below. And the city—" His breath rattled. "The city will do anything to keep you from leaving."

His hand went slack. The blood on your fingers was warm.

The paper in your palm seemed to pulse.

What happens next is up to you.
