The Glass Oath

You are bound to a haunted mansion's mirrors, and each crack takes a piece of your flesh.

You are the sworn keeper of House Verre, a glass mansion that breathes with secrets. Bound by a magical contract to keep its mirrors flawless, you pay for every crack with your own flesh. Tonight, a rival house shatters your grand mirror, revealing a conspiracy that could collapse your world. To uncover the truth, you must break the mirror—but doing so forfeits your soul. The mirrors are watching, and every shard holds a piece of your fate.

The story begins

The stone struck with a sound like a bone breaking, and the grand mirror in the entrance hall screamed. Not in sound—in you. The crack spiderwebbed across the silvered glass, and a gash opened on your forearm, blood blooming through your sleeve. You staggered, gripping the marble balustrade, your breath catching as the shards shifted.

But they didn't reflect the hall. They reflected a room you'd never seen: shelves of leather-bound tomes, a desk thick with dust, a vault door etched with the Verre sigil. The hidden archive. It flickered, fading, and with it came a whisper from the broken glass—low, seductive, familiar.

"Break me fully, Keeper. The truth is down there. Your soul is a small price for what they buried."

You pressed your palm to the wound, the pain sharp and real. The contract burned in your blood, old magic coiling like a serpent. Somewhere beyond the shattered pane, a horse's hooves rang out on the cobblestones. House Cinder's messenger, no doubt, coming to gloat.

The shards dimmed. The archive was slipping.

What happens next is up to you.
