The Oathbreaker's Ledger

Every step you take is written in a living ledger—and the haunted house at the map's heart offers to erase your debt for a terrible price.

You are a charter-bound explorer, every step recorded in a living ledger that measures your life in years owed to a shadowy patron. When the haunted house at the heart of the map offers to erase your debt—at the cost of the souls you've sworn to protect—you must choose between breaking your word and losing everything you've earned. A survival adventure of dark bargains and impossible choices, where every decision is weighed and written.

The story begins

The Ledger’s cover was warm against your palm, a low thrum like a held breath. You’d counted the years it owed you—eleven, nine months, four days—so often the numbers felt carved into your ribs. Ahead, the house leaned into the dusk, its windows dark as drowned eyes. The map in your other hand had gone damp with sweat, the ink of FINAL LOCATION bleeding into a smear.

Maren stepped up beside you, close enough that her shoulder brushed yours. “It’s listening,” she said, voice low. “I can feel it.”

You could, too. A whisper slid from the eaves, not words but the shape of them, curling around your name like a debt collector’s fingers.

The Ledger warmed again, and the last line you’d written shimmered: Oath to Maren: unbroken.

The house’s whisper resolved into a single, silken sentence: I can make it so you owe nothing. Just bring me the ones who trust you.

Your throat tightened. Maren looked at you, trusting, and the weight of that look was heavier than any debt.

What happens next is up to you.
