The Inkbound Oath

Your blood is the map, and the truth is a death sentence.

You are a cartographer bound by a magical oath to the Guild, sworn to guard the secret of the Last Atlas. But tonight, the oath turns against you, transforming your very flesh into living parchment whenever you dare to speak the truth. Two former lovers—one you betrayed, one who betrayed you—each hold a piece of the key to breaking the curse, but only one can survive the perilous journey to the Atlas's source. With time running out and your own body turning against you, you must navigate a world of shifting loyalties and dangerous magic to reclaim your freedom.

The story begins

The Guildmaster’s voice was silk over steel as he traced the ceremonial line across your palm. “Swear the oath, and the map becomes your blood.” You’d done this a hundred times—a routine binding for a junior cartographer’s first chart. But the moment the ink touched your skin, it burned. Not the familiar sting of needle and pigment, but a deep, searing ache that crawled up your forearm like living vines. The room’s candlelight flickered, and you saw it: black veins, branching and pulsing beneath your flesh, spreading toward your shoulder.

The Guildmaster’s smile didn’t waver. “A rare reaction,” he said, too calmly. “The oath takes root.”

You knew, then, with a cold certainty that clamped around your chest like a vise. This wasn’t a rite. It was a leash. And you’d just put it on.

Your fist clenched against the pain, knuckles white. The other cartographers averted their eyes, shuffling parchment and pretending not to see. The oath hummed in your blood, a promise of slow, paper-thin death.

What happens next is up to you.
