The Vaccine Heir

Mature

You hold the cure to a dying world—and the one man who can save it is the one who left you for dead.

You are the last researcher alive who can synthesize the only cure for a lethal pandemic strain. The man who stole your grant and ruined your reputation is now the only pharma baron with the facilities to mass-produce it—and he's holding your homeland hostage in exchange for the formula. The clock is ticking, and every hour you hesitate, more of your people die. But surrendering the cure means giving him everything, including the power to control the world's future. Will you save your homeland or your soul?

The story begins

The cold glass of the vial pressed against your palm like a reproach. You’d been staring at the amber liquid for three minutes, watching the molecules dance under the harsh white light, willing them to align into something that would save millions. The lab hummed—fridges, filters, the soft hiss of the airlock—but the silence between your heartbeats was louder.

The screen blinked again. The same encrypted message, red text on black: *72 hours. Then your homeland starves without the vaccine.*

You set the vial down, wiped your hands on your trousers. The data from the stolen research was here, in fragments, scattered across six secure drives. You’d rebuilt most of it. Not all. Not the final synthesis step—the one that made it stable at scale.

A soft knock. Three taps, then two. The code you’d arranged with Lena.

You didn’t move. You counted your breaths, your fingers hovering over the panic switch wired beneath the bench.

What happens next is up to you.
