The Architect's Ghost

You've lived your whole life in the shadow of the Architect's ghost—but the truth of your world is about to be rebuilt.

You've spent your quiet years as the village archivist, cataloging the records of your home—a towering arcology built atop the ruins of a haunted house. But when the world around you begins to glitch—walls flicker, memories don't add up—you discover that your entire life has been constructed, a designed reality created by an architect who refuses to be forgotten. As the glitches spread and the system threatens to collapse, you uncover the truth: you're a memory, a ghost in the machine, and the architect is about to reboot the world. You have one chance to find the core of the arcology and confront the mind that built you—or be deleted forever.

The story begins

The ledger page shimmered under your lamp, the ink shifting like oil on water. You blinked, rubbed your eyes—you'd been at this too long, cross-referencing the grain tithe records against the harvest manifests. But the words didn't settle. "The door at the bottom of the cistern opens onto a field of green, and the sky is not a ceiling."

Your heart stuttered. That wasn't in the records. You'd transcribed every page in this archive yourself, twice, in your neat and careful hand. This sentence was wrong—impossible.

Then the world flickered.

The shelves stuttered like a skipping reel, books blurring into static for a fraction of a heartbeat. The lamp flame froze mid-flicker, a frozen amber fang. And on the back of your left hand, a symbol bloomed—a spiral, etched in lines that glowed faintly blue, like the tracings of a circuit board.

The air hummed. Somewhere above, in the pristine upper levels, a siren began to wail.

You could see it now. Faint threads of light running through the walls, the floor, the spines of the books—a web of code, holding everything together. And one thread, near the archive's iron door, was fraying, pulsing like a wounded artery.

What happens next is up to you.
