The Clockwork Duel

Mature

You've gambled years of your life to save your brother, but the final arena trial demands you fight the one person you've ever loved.

In the brutal underground arena known as the Clockwork Colosseum, you've survived three trials by betting your own years. Now, the final match offers the cure for your brother's affliction, but your opponent is the only person who ever made you feel alive—the one you left behind. The arena's master has twisted the rules to ensure only one of you walks away, and every gear-driven trap is a screaming invitation to sacrifice. The choice is impossible: save your brother, or save her? In this gritty, high-stakes adventure, the clock is always ticking, and the crowd's bloodlust is the only constant.

The story begins

The arena gates slam shut behind you with a sound like a coffin lid. The roar of ten thousand throats crashes over you, a wave of heat and spittle and bloodlust that makes the iron in your palms feel alive. The sand beneath your boots is churned and dark, still damp from the last match—the one where you watched a man beg before the gears found him.

Across the circle, Aria stands. She hasn't moved. Her blade catches the torchlight, and for a moment you see the old scar on her forearm—the one you stitched yourself, in a tent that smelled of pine and rain. Her eyes find yours, and the crowd's chanting fades to a dull hum.

The Warden's voice thunders from above, amplified by brass horns. "The rules are simple. One walks out. The cure waits for the survivor." He gestures to the pedestal, where a vial of pale liquid glows under a glass dome, impossibly close.

Aria's lips part. She says something, but the noise swallows it. She signs it instead—the old language of your hands.

Why did you leave?

The clock begins to tick. Somewhere beneath the sand, gears grind to life.

What happens next is up to you.
