The Gilded Labyrinth Run

Mature

Race the living labyrinth, and the prize may cost you everything.

You were once the fastest runner in the Gilded Labyrinth, but a scandal stripped your name and left you broke. Now your sister lies dying, and the only cure costs more than you can earn honestly. So you've entered the brutal dungeon-running competition, where the winner's purse is your only hope. But this year, the labyrinth has awakened—and its final puzzle demands a sacrifice that will test your soul. Will you betray another runner to save your sister, or find a way to win without losing yourself?

The story begins

The starting bell is still a phantom echo in your skull when you vault the first golden wall, boots skidding on polished brass. The Gilded Labyrinth yawns before you—corridors of impossible geometry, walls breathing with a slow, rhythmic pulse, and light that shifts from amber to blood-red as the maze begins its dance. Behind you, the crowd's roar is swallowed by the labyrinth's hungry silence.

Your lungs burn. Your sister's face flickers in your mind—pale, hopeful, hooked to machines that tick away the seconds of her life. The prize money is the only medicine that matters now.

A blur of motion to your left. Maren, lean and fierce, shoulder-checking you into a wall of gold that gives like flesh. "Watch it, ghost," they hiss, already sprinting ahead. "You're not the only one with something to lose."

You push off the yielding surface, tasting copper. The corridor ahead splits into three mouths, each whispering different promises of safety, treasure, death. The walls shudder, and somewhere deep below, something ancient stretches awake.

What happens next is up to you.
