The Gardener's Map

You found the map that proves your paradise is a prison—now decide what lies beyond the walls.

You've spent your entire life in a pristine estate, surrounded by gardens and gentle caretakers who never speak of the world outside. When you uncover a hidden map in the library, it reveals the truth: your paradise is a carefully constructed cage, and beyond its walls lies a wasteland of dangers and secrets. With your first real choice at hand, do you flee into the unknown or uncover why they built this prison? A tale of survival, hidden identity, and the slow burn of discovery where every step outside the gates could be your last.

The story begins

The dust motes danced in the slanted afternoon light as you slid the atlas from its shelf, your fingers tracing the leather spine that had felt different—weightier—every time you’d passed it. You’d memorized the library’s every crack and crevice, but this book had always been too heavy, too deliberate. Tonight, you’d finally listened to the itch beneath your skin.

The map fell out like a confession.

It was hand-drawn, ink faded to sepia, showing the estate in precise, loving detail—the gardens, the library, the gate. But beyond the walls, where you’d always pictured nothing but blank parchment, the wasteland sprawled: marked with names you didn’t recognize, routes, warnings in a hand that wasn’t Elder Mira’s. Ashfall. The Hollow Road. The Sunken Chapel. And in the corner, a single word underlined twice: FREEDOM.

The library door creaked.

Elder Mira stood in the threshold, her face going pale as her eyes landed on the map in your hands. The teacup she held rattled against its saucer.

“Where did you find that?” Her voice was thin, cracked.

What happens next is up to you.
