The Glitchborn Reward

You wake in a world that was never yours—now escape the simulation, or become its prize.

You're a survivor in a sun-scorched wasteland, but your memories of a peaceful life are glitching. When the system that created this world starts breaking, you discover a hidden quest—and a hidden purpose. You were never the test subject; you were the reward. Now, you must outrun the architects who want you back and decide if freedom is worth the truth.

The story begins

The ground beneath you hums—a low, electric thrum that vibrates up through the soles of your boots and into your teeth. Dust hangs in the air, thick and mineral, catching the sickly orange light of the flickering sky. Ahead, the ruins of the old civic center shimmer, its broken columns phasing between sun-bleached stone and something else—steel and glass, a building that never existed in this wasteland. A glitch, and a fresh one. The air tastes of ozone and burnt copper.

You've been walking for hours, following a path only you can see: a faint trail of static that crawls across the ground like a wounded snake. Behind you, Kael's footsteps are a steady, deliberate counterpoint to your own. When you glance back, his face is unreadable, gray eyes fixed on the shimmering ruin.

"You're heading straight into a reset zone," he says, voice low, almost a warning. "Turn back."

But the static trail pulses brighter, and something in your chest tells you this is the way. You've never been wrong before.

The ground beneath you gives a sickening lurch, and the sky flickers, stuttering like a dying bulb.

What happens next is up to you.
