The Oath-Eater's Ledger

Your blood-oath demands one final map—or your soul becomes archive ink.

You are bound by a blood-oath to a defunct expedition company, and the magic of the contract is closing in. To survive, you must complete one final, impossible mapping assignment in a region that swallows surveyors whole. Your only ally is a rival who holds the key to breaking the oath, but she'll trade it only for the secret that could destroy your family. Chart the unmappable, bargain with a betrayer, and decide what your soul is worth in this survival adventure of forbidden bargains and slow-burn trust.

The story begins

The ink on the contract bled through the parchment, a slow, wet stain that spread like a wound. You’d read the clause a hundred times, but tonight the words burned: Failure to deliver the map by the first frost consumes the surveyor’s soul to the Archive. The candle guttered, and your compass needle spun wild, pointing to nothing.

You’d been in the field for a decade, mapping voids and rivers that moved like serpents. But this was different. This was a death sentence with your own signature at the bottom.

A knock rattled the door—sharp, impatient. Before you could rise, it swung open.

She stood in the threshold, rain dripping from her hood, a leather satchel slung over one shoulder. Her eyes were the color of old ink, and they found yours with the precision of a blade. “You’ve got thirty days,” the Rival Cartographer said, stepping inside. “And I’m the only one who can void that oath. But you already knew that, didn’t you?” She tossed a folded map onto your desk—a map of the Fractured Reach, impossibly detailed. “I want the truth about your family’s name. And I want it before the moon turns.”

What happens next is up to you.
