The Pawn's Passage

Mature

You were traded as collateral—now claim the artifact and make your captors pay.

When your father's map fails to pay off his debts, you're handed over as security to a ruthless creditor. The expedition he's funded is a trap, and you're slated to be sold to a rival clan. Your only way out is to beat them to the legendary artifact—and turn the tables on everyone who thought you were just a bargaining chip. This is a high-stakes adventure of survival, betrayal, and cold revenge in a treacherous landscape where every ally might be a knife in the dark.

The story begins

The caravan lurched as a wheel caught a buried stone, and you braced your palm against the cart's splintered rail. The sand burned through the soles of your boots, radiating heat even in the fading light. Ahead, the Guide reined his mount to a halt, his silhouette sharp against a sky bleeding orange into violet. He didn't look back.

Behind you, the Creditor's voice sliced through the wind's low moan. "Keep pace, girl. Your feet are worth more than your complaints."

You turned, meeting his gaze. He sat high on a dappled mare, his linen robes immaculate despite the grit that clung to everything else. His smile was a blade wrapped in silk.

"Your father's debt," he said, gesturing vaguely at the map case strapped to your hip, "is not forgiven by sentiment. Find what's buried, and I'll consider your ledger balanced. Fail, and the rival clan pays me handsomely for your bones."

The Guide finally spoke, his voice rough as the stone beneath your feet. "She won't fail. The map's in her blood."

You felt the weight of his stare—and the lie hiding beneath its surface.

What happens next is up to you.
