The Relic Mender's Gambit
You restore lost artifacts, but the one you've been hired to fix holds the key to a past you never knew.
As a renowned relic mender, you've made a career of restoring the impossible. The Galactic Museum's curator has hired you to retrieve a relic that could reignite a dying star. But when you touch it, you recognize it as the missing piece of your stolen memories. Fix it, and you could save a civilization—but the truth it reveals might destroy you. And the curator? He's the one who erased your life.
The story begins
The observatory's airlock hissed shut behind you, sealing you inside a tomb of frozen glass and dead machinery. Your breath fogged in the starlight streaming through the fractured dome, the void beyond scattered with the embers of a thousand expired suns.
You'd done this before—a hundred derelicts, a thousand artifacts. Your hands knew the work even if your memory didn't. The relic sat on a pedestal of crystallized dust, pulsing with a soft, amber light that seemed almost... expectant.
Your fingers brushed its surface.
The jolt hit like a live current, and suddenly you weren't in the observatory anymore. You were somewhere else—a garden, warm and green, a woman's laughter ringing in your ears. Your own voice, younger, saying: "I'll keep it safe. I promise."
Then the image shattered.
Kael's voice crackled through your earpiece, sharp with urgency. "You touched it, didn't you? Get out of there—now. That relic isn't just an artifact. It's a memory vault. And the Curator knows you're here."
The relic pulsed hotter in your palm, and the station's alarms began to wail.
