The Warden's Broken Cage

Mature

You guard the island's secrets—until you learn you're the one who's been caged.

As the warden of a remote prison island, you've spent years herding violent criminals through a jungle that hides ancient ruins. But when a dying prisoner whispers the truth—that the island, the prisoners, and even your own memories were crafted by a puppet master—your world shatters. Now, the only way to break free is to join a deadly treasure hunt through a maze that adapts to your every move. In this adventure of survival and betrayal, every choice could be your last, and the prize is the truth of who you really are.

The story begins

The cell stank of rust and old blood. You'd come alone, against protocol, because the prisoner had asked for the warden by name—and because something in his voice had crawled under your skin. He lay on the concrete, throat slit by his own hand, and yet he'd smiled when you entered.

"You think you're the warden," he rasped, blood bubbling between his teeth. "You're a puppet. We all are. The island—" A wet cough. "—the maze knows your footsteps before you take them."

Then he died.

Now you stand over him, the echo of his words still ringing in the silence. The cell door should be locked. It isn't. Beyond it, the corridor stretches longer than it did a minute ago, the fluorescent lights flickering like a dying heartbeat. And from the walls, a voice—smooth, amused, familiar in a way that turns your stomach—whispers:

"Warden. Find the heart of the maze, and I'll show you what's real. But be quick. The prisoners are already hunting you."

The intercom crackles with static, then a prisoner's voice cuts through: "He's in Block C. Move in."

What happens next is up to you.
