The Anchored Heir

You inherit a lighthouse that can see the past—and it insists you relive the wreck your family caused.

Your uncle's will leaves you a derelict lighthouse and a keeper's log with blank pages—except for your name. When the light begins to show you the past, you realize it wants you to confront a shipwreck your ancestors caused, or the sea will claim your town. To break the cycle, you must navigate a storm that may not be natural, uncovering the hidden identity you've kept from everyone, including yourself.

The story begins

The wind tore at your oilskin coat as you forced the lighthouse door open, salt spray stinging your cheeks like thrown gravel. Behind you, the town of Blackharbor huddled under a sky the color of bruises, its fishing boats straining at their moorings. The storm had come up fast—too fast, the old-timers would say, but they weren't talking to you. They never did.

Inside, the air was thick with kerosene and decades of damp. Your uncle's logbook lay open on the oak desk, its pages yellowed and blank except for one line of ink that hadn't dried. Your name. Your full name, the one you'd buried with your mother's secrets.

The light above you flared without warning, a pulse that shook the iron stairs. Through the glass, you saw it—a ship, three-masted, foundering in black water. And on the deck, clinging to the rail, a woman with your face. Your hands gripped the desk's edge as the image burned into your skull.

Then a voice, old as tide and bone, breathed through the room: You remember.

The door slammed behind you. The latch fell.

What happens next is up to you.
