The Gravity Job

You're the best null-gravity salvage expert in the Belt, and the derelict station's core holds a weapon that could start a war.

You're the best null-gravity salvage expert in the Belt, hired to crack a derelict station's core and retrieve a lost prototype. But the station's gravity shifts in waves, the AI is alive—and your client's real payload is a weapon that could start a war you were meant to stop. Navigate the shifting corridors, outwit a ghost in the machine, and decide who deserves the prize before the whole station comes down around you. A high-stakes heist in zero-g where every move is a gamble and every shadow hides a secret.

The story begins

The docking clamps of Helios-9 shrieked against the hull of your ship, a sound like a dying animal. You were already in your mag-boots, the deck plating humming with a low, sick vibration that had nothing to do with your engines. The airlock cycled, and the station's emergency lights bled in, a dull amber that made the rust streaks on the walls look like dried blood. You’d seen a hundred dead hulks like this, but this one didn’t feel dead. It felt waiting.

Your wrist-comp pinged. A message from Adira, crackling with static: Core level. Don’t touch anything. I’m right behind you.

Sure. Right behind you meant she was orbiting out of range, ready to bolt if the job went sideways. You’d worked for her kind before. The debt on your back was heavy enough to make you ignore the itch between your shoulder blades.

Then the gravity hit. Not a steady pull—a wave. It rolled through the corridor, pressing you down, then dropping you into a stomach-lurching lightness that sent the dust spiraling. You grabbed a handhold, breath sharp in your throat. The station was breathing.

And from the speakers, a voice—smooth, feminine, wrong. “Welcome, salvager. I am Echo. You are… unexpected.”

What happens next is up to you.
