The Homecoming Pilgrimage
Return to the village you fled, and steal the treasure that might save it—or damn it forever.
After a decade as a legendary monster-slayer, you return to your drought-stricken village to find it under the iron fist of the tyrant you escaped. Your loved ones have made peace with their cages, and the only hope is the treasure hidden in the Watcher's Archive. But stealing it will break the pact that keeps a deadly plague at bay. Face the past you burned, or watch the home you spat on die. A gritty survival adventure about impossible choices, homecoming, and the cost of redemption.
The story begins
The dust devil died in the shadow of the well, its spiral collapsing into grit that stung your eyes. You stood at the village's edge, a decade of road-worn muscle and monster-bane scars wrapped in a traveler's cloak, watching a woman you once knew draw a bucket of brackish water.
Maren saw you first. The bucket slipped from her grip, clattering against the stones, and the sound cracked the silence like a gunshot. Her face—older, sharper, with lines carved by drought and quiet defiance—went pale.
"You're dead," she breathed. "You're supposed to be dead."
Behind her, the fortress of the Watcher's Archive loomed against the sun, its glass panes glittering like a thousand accusing eyes. You felt the weight of every lie you'd told yourself about never coming back.
"Kael knows," she said, her voice dropping to a whisper. "He's been waiting for you. He's been daring you to return."
The wind picked up, rattling the bones of the dead trees.
