The Scripted Life
Your whole life is a lie—and the author is about to write your ending.
You've always lived a quiet, ordinary life as a postal clerk, until you find a hidden diary that predicts your own death. A mysterious benefactor reveals you're a character in a grand experiment designed to create the perfect explorer. Now you must break free from the scripted world and write your own adventure, even as the Writer's enforcers hunt you down. Escape, survive, and discover who's really holding the pen.
The story begins
The diary landed on the break-room table with a soft thud, and the world tilted. You’d found it wedged behind a stack of dead-letter parcels, the cover worn leather, the pages filled with handwriting you recognized as your own. You’d read the entry for today—the exact moment you’d find this diary, the exact ache in your chest as you did—and then the final page. A date. A time. Tomorrow, 11:47 PM. Cause: unknown.
Your hands were shaking. The fluorescent hum of the post office seemed too loud, too clean.
“You shouldn’t have read that.”
The voice came from the doorway. A woman stood there, coat collar turned up, eyes sharp and tired. She didn’t look like anyone who belonged in a dead-letter office. “I’m the Benefactor. And you’ve just seen the end of your script. The question is whether you’re brave enough to tear up the page.”
Behind her, down the corridor, you heard footsteps. Measured. Deliberate. Not a coworker’s shuffle.
