The Last Emberkeeper

You are the last keeper of the dying lights, and the only flame that can save them lies beyond a mountain no one has climbed in a thousand years.

The Deep Wastes are a realm of perpetual dusk, where the Howling Dark devours all light and hope. You are the last Emberkeeper, the sole person who can rekindle the fire-lanterns that keep the darkness at bay. But the lanterns are failing, their flames flickering out faster than you can relight them. The only source of new flame lies in the Ember Peak, a mountain that hasn't been climbed in a millennium. Every step you take toward it lets the Dark creep closer to the village you swore to protect. This survival adventure forces you to balance the needs of your people against the impossible climb ahead. Will you risk everything to save them, or will you let the darkness claim what you hold dear?

The story begins

The last ember in your palm sputters, a tiny orange heart beating against the ash-cold wind. You cup it, shield it with your body as the village square stretches before you—a dark hollow of huddled shapes and dim, failing lanterns. Elder Ryn stands apart, her face a map of cracks and worry, and Kael is at her side, his jaw tight with the words he hasn't said yet.

You've done this a hundred times—relit the lanterns, walked the perimeter, whispered the old words that keep the Howling Dark at bay. But the embers are dying faster now, and your hands are shaking. The mountain looms behind the village, a black tooth against a sky that has no stars, and you know what you have to do.

Ryn's voice cuts through the wind. "Emberkeeper. Don't."

Kael steps forward, his flamekeeper's torch casting long shadows. "You go up there, you don't come back. We both know it."

The ember in your palm gutters. You have one choice to make.

What happens next is up to you.
