You are the most infamous rift-jumper in the Multiverse, a lone operative known for crossing dimensional chasms that others call suicide. Hired for a single, high-paying job, you find yourself stranded on the far side of a collapsing rift with a wounded partner and a rival team. To get home, you must shatter the rift's ancient lock—but doing so will unleash a horror that could consume every world you've ever known. Will you sacrifice everything to survive, or find another way?
The story begins
The obsidian ground shuddered beneath your boots, and the air tasted of ozone and burnt copper. You'd been here ninety seconds—enough to know the rift was dying faster than the scans suggested. Behind you, Sera's breath came in sharp, controlled gasps. You didn't turn around. You couldn't afford to see the blood soaking through her tactical suit, the shard of black crystal jutting from her side like a jagged accusation.
"Status," you said, your voice flat, professional.
"Still bleeding. Still breathing." A pause. "Don't get sentimental, partner."
Kaelen Draven stood twenty meters ahead, silhouetted against the swirling tear in reality. His team had already fanned out toward the monolith—the lock—its surface pulsing with a sickly violet light. He glanced back at you, a thin smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
"The relic's inside the lock," he called. "But the Warden's already noticed us. You've got two options: help me crack it open and we all walk, or—"
The rift screamed. A sound like tearing silk, but vast, and the ground beneath your feet flickered, gravity stuttering sideways for a half-second. Sera cried out, bitten off almost immediately.
You were already moving.
