The Walking Mountain's Wager

You are the last runner in the Titan's Trial, and the mountain itself is watching your every step.

In a realm where the sky is a canvas and mountains walk, the annual Titan's Trial promises the victor a wish that can heal your dying land. But the labyrinth is no mere race—it's a living, breathing entity that rewrites itself with every heartbeat, and you are its last competitor. Crossing the finish could save your people—but every step may be a bargain with the mountain's ancient heart. Will you trust the whispering paths or the rival who claims to have a map?

The story begins

The stone beneath your boots hums a low, wrong note—a chord that vibrates up through your calves and settles in your teeth. You've been running for what feels like hours, but the sun hasn't moved a finger's width across the painted sky. The labyrinth walls lean in close, slick with moss that glows faintly green, and every few paces you hear the grind of stone shifting somewhere behind you, erasing the path you just took.

You wipe sweat from your brow and keep moving. The village is dying—you've seen the blight creep across the fields, watched the elders ration water like it was gold. This is the last run. The final chance.

Ahead, the passage splits into three. The left path smells of rain and old iron. The right one is silent, too silent. And the center—the center is lined with carvings you recognize from a dream you've never told anyone about. Your fingers brush the stone, and the hum deepens, almost like a voice.

You've been here before, it seems to say. You just don't remember what you left behind.

Behind you, gravel crunches. Kael's shadow stretches long across the wall.

What happens next is up to you.
