The Ashfall Accord

Mature

You betrayed the only partner who trusted you—now you must raid death traps together or starve.

In a wasteland devoured by ash and war, you are a ruthless scavenger who destroyed your partner's caravan to survive. With winter closing in and famine spreading, you have one chance to redeem your treachery: join forces with the same partner to plunder the deadly Ashfall Vaults. But these vaults are not mere tombs—they are a gauntlet of traps that test trust itself, and every step forces you to confront the betrayal that binds you. Can you trust the one you destroyed to save what's left of the world?

The story begins

The wind carried ash like gray snow, stinging the cracks in your goggles as you crouched behind the collapsed water tower. Forty yards out, Varek stood at the edge of the dead cornfield, his silhouette sharp against the bruised sky. He hadn't changed—still wore that patched leather duster, still carried the scarred axe on his back. The same man you'd sold out to Marn's raiders for a crate of medicine that saved twelve children and damned forty others.

Your breath fogged the glass. The map in your pocket felt like a brand against your thigh.

"Come out," Varek called, voice raw as the wind. "I know you're there. I always know."

You stood. His hand drifted toward the axe, and for a long moment, neither of you moved. The town behind him was starving. The war was two weeks out. And the vaults—the vaults needed two people who trusted each other enough to bleed together.

"You look older," he said. "Guilt does that."

What happens next is up to you.
