The Vermilion Glacier Run

Mature

You guide a killer across a blood-red ice field—and the only way out is through them.

You're a glacier guide who knows every crack and crevasse of the crimson ice. When a cartel courier hires you for a desperate crossing, you take the job—until a whiteout reveals their true face: the assassin who slaughtered your last crew. Now, trapped on a deadly glacier with your worst enemy, you must decide: trust the killer who knows the way out, or risk the frozen wasteland alone. A tense survival thriller where every step could be your last, and the only thing more dangerous than the ice is the truth.

The story begins

The wind screamed across the Vermilion Glacier like a living thing, hurling ice crystals that bit into the exposed skin of your cheeks. You'd lashed yourself to a steel piton driven deep into the blood-red ice, one arm wrapped around the rope, the other shielding your eyes against the whiteout. Ten feet away, the courier hunkered behind a serac, their face half-buried in a fur-lined hood. A smile played at the corner of their mouth—visible even through the storm.

"Still angry, guide?" their voice cut through the gale, almost casual. "The ropes were cut clean. I'll give you that much. Your crew never had a chance."

Your gloved hand tightened on the ice axe. The weight of it was familiar, comfortable. One swing, and this conversation ends. But the courier tilted their head, reading the thought before you could act.

"Kill me, and you die too. The safe path dies with me." They gestured vaguely into the swirling white. "Every crevasse out there looks the same. You'd be a smear on the ice by nightfall."

The wind howled, and somewhere beneath your boots, the glacier groaned—a sound you knew too well. The ice was shifting.

What happens next is up to you.
