You've spent a lifetime disarming the impossible, but the legendary Vault of Names is something else entirely—a sentient prison that feeds on skilled hands. Hired to crack its defenses, you walk into a trap: the vault isn't a treasure house, it's a predator, and your employer is its keeper. Your reputation is worthless here. The only person who can help you is the rival you betrayed years ago, and they want revenge as much as they want to survive. To escape, you'll have to unlock the vault's darkest secret—and destroy the very thing you were hired to open. A gritty survival adventure where trust is the most dangerous tool you carry.
The story begins
The stone door slammed shut behind you with a sound like a grave closing. Dust spiraled through the torchlight, and somewhere deep in the mountain, something shifted — a slow, wet pulse, as if the vault itself had taken a breath.
You pressed your palm flat against the door. Cold. Sealed. No handle on this side.
"Looking for this?"
The voice came from the shadows ahead, and your blood went cold before your mind caught up. You turned. Maren Voss stood at the edge of the torchlight, arms crossed, a dagger spinning lazily between their fingers. They looked thinner than the last time you'd seen them — that night in the collapsing ruin, the dust and screams, the look on their face as the ceiling came down.
"Hello, partner." Their smile didn't reach their eyes. "The Keeper's little invitation said to bring my finest skills. Didn't say I'd be bringing my oldest grudge."
The floor trembled. Somewhere behind Maren, a corridor twisted, stone grinding against stone.
